Locations For Filming Our Thriller Film

                     This is the outside of the warehouse we used for filming our Thriller opening

                             This is the inside of the warehouse we used to film the killer scene.

                                              These are the doors the killer comes through.

This was a possible location for filming the killer, but we decided the other location was a better option, as it had more space.

                               This is another possible location, but we decided it was too light.

This was another possible location, however there were not enough computers, and did not look authentic as a police office.

This was the main location for filming, however our handheld filming was too jolty, so we had to re-film in a different location.

Conventions of a Thiller: Audio

The audio aspect to conventions refers to the music and dialogue included in the film, in our product the music we used adds tention, and signifiys the difference between the police and the killer, this is done by there being no music and some dialouge during the police scene, and no dialogue and dark music during the killers scene, this gives the impression that the policemen are civil, and that the killer is dark and creepy.

Conventions of Thillers: Symbolic

The symbolic catagory includes Mise-en-scene, which covers costume, setting, props ect. The costume we used was symbolic to those of the stereotypes of our characters, the police men wore smart trousers, smart shirts and ties, but somewhat casually to represent them working alot, the killer wore boots, scruffy trousers, a T-shirt, a blood stained apron and gloves. Which is similar to other films in the Thiller genre:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre had a killer similar to that of ours.

Se7en has police characers similar to ours.

Conventions of Thiller: Technical

Camera angles, camera techniques and editing are the main parts when talking about the technical aspect of convetions. In our product, we used camera angles such as close-up's, over the shoulder shots and panning, with the exeption of panning, these shots are used alot in Thillers, and we used panning to challenge these forms and conventions. In Thillers the shots are usually short, and we replicated this in our product.

Progress Report 2

We have decided the following:

a) Main character is me and I need to wear the following clothing: white t shirt, blue jeans, latex gloves and a blood stained apron. This is because I am playing a relatively normal looking person, but want the viewer to see the implication that I have done something to the body on the table.

b) Felix will be the body on the table

c) Props: a variety of rusted tools, some with blood stains on; hopefully this will appear as if I have used them before and that this is not my first victim

d) Lawerence will mainly edit the final piece

e) Location: will’s dad’s workplace

f) Ian is going to write the “script” although there will be no speaking in it, there will be directions etc

g) Will is going to be the main director

h) We are going to call it viewpoint because it represents different peoples veiws and it gives the audience a sharp feeling (especially when the titl jumps out at you at the end).

i) We called it Iris Productions because our group was called Iris Group so we thought that Iris Productions sounded the best name relating to our group.

j) All of us will design the logo

k) All of us are going to design the titles

Frozen

Frozen is a psychological thriller/horror about 3 friends who go skiing and get stuck half way up a mountain. The plot is really simple, which I like. What I really love about this is the use of cut away angles that allows the viewer to imagine what is going on and has happened to the main characters. However, I think the beginning is a little slow, and I think ours should be a little faster paced with more information in it.
