Modern Thrillers

Modern thrillers are more closely linked to horror movies than in older movies. Many of these thrillers have a link to serial killers; the general public have become fascinated with this sub genre of the thriller movie.
Silence of the lambs was one of the first big movies to hit on this fascination. Others include The Bone Collector starring Denzel Washington as a paraplegic forensic specialist aided by Angelina Jolie searching for a serial killer in New York, who leaves clues to where his next victim will be. The suspense and tension builds as the team rushes to find them before it is too late. One victim is burned to death by a high pressure steam valve left open; another is eaten alive by rats. This more gory approach has become more popular with younger viewers at the cinema.

I think our opening should incorporate this more bloody approach.
